Lighting blog tasks

 1) Still image analysis

  1. Identify examples of high and low-key lighting.
lowkey
high key

  1. Say which depict topback or under lighting
the high key picture is top lighting as the light is coming from above like the sun. the lowkey one is back lighting as it is a bit darker on their faces and there is a strong light coming from behind

  1. What effects are created by the lighting in each image?
the high key one has an natural sunny day effect where the sun is shinning on them causing a shadow . the lowkey one had back lighting which makes their faces darker which suggest that there is trouble behind them like and explosion.

2) Film noir research

-film noir heavily focuses on lowkey lighting
-this causes an uncanny, mysterious atmosphere and vibe for the audience
-they tend to use a contrast of lighting creating shadows to add onto the atmosphere
- they also use a certain brighter lighting for flashback scenes
-involves hard and hash lighting

3) Film noir YouTube clip analysis
https://youtu.be/3t8H07c30io

throughout the scene it has high key lighting as there is a natural light where there is shadows being produced however then later on in the scene there is a brighter lighting which is lowkey as it is not natural. the light6ing at first is back lighting then again when they move away from the big window going into top lighting. this fits the film noir genre as there is a contrast of lighting between one scene.
