Print draft feedback and learner response

Estimated current grade for print work: D   Comments and feedback: The image on the cover is great – but is it a cover image? It makes it quite difficult to see the rest of the conventions on the cover. Typography use is generally very strong on the cover but make sure it’s consistent. That’s part of meeting the ‘house style’ element of the brief. Check the brief minimum requirements and make sure you tick everything in terms of cover lines etc. The two additional images can work but this feels like a draft rather than final version with the white background etc. Perhaps think about placement too? Is your slogan too long? You generally want them to be snappy. Could possibly consider the same for the main flash / main cover line. The double page spread has some conventions used effectively and some missing. Again, go back to the brief and work through what needs to be there. I would read over the introductory text again as it could be smoother in places. The Q&A format works well

Coursework: Print brief research and planning

Research and planning blog tasks Front cover 1) Research  TV listing magazine front cover key conventions . Find at least five examples of TV listings magazine front covers and post them to your blog. This will give you a good idea of the type of magazine you need to produce. 2) Note down the   design elements  you notice in each front cover example you research and look for aspects you can use in your own work (e.g. camera shots, page design or cover lines).  -The protagonist is in the middle of the magazine and takes up most the paper  -the headline of the magazine brand is at the top whilst the protagonist  covers some of (behind them) - the  sub tittle is at the bottle of the page  -in some of the magazines there are extra pictures ( 2 small at the bottom of the page which is required for our spec) the cover lines around the sides -the barcode either at the bottom or the sides  3) What  key conventions  can you find across different types of front cover - e.g. title placement, co

Coursework: Statement of Intent

Introduction: My Tv crime drama show "money motivated "will appear on Netflix as an Netflix original. My 3 minute extract will appear as an opening scene, where the main protagonist owes money to a dangerous and deadly gang and finds himself confronted by two of the top gang members. The narrative explores how the main protagonist (Jordan) struggles with the pressure of paying off the debt he owes to the impatient leaders of a lethal gang on his block. Media Language I will be meeting the brief by making my video three minutes long. My clip will start with a cross over between the main protagonist making his way home with his air pods in and the gang members counting the cash and realising that there's 2k short, this where the members leave to go find him and catch him while he's on his road and confront him giving him 72 hours. There will be non diegetic drill music playing during the cross over while the main protagonist is walking. There is diegetic sound of music

Preliminary exercise learner response

  1) Type up your teacher's feedback   in full  plus a summary of the comments you received from other students in the class. -i like the opening shot but perhaps an establishing shot from across the street could have been even more 'London'? -soundtrack is really effective in establishing genre  -editing is strong, nice continuity editing and clear to the audience what is about to happen -dialogue is unclear-i wonder if this needs to be heard to really develop the narrative? -I'd like to see a much wider selection of camera shots in the corridor-over the shoulder, high/low angle etc 2) Using a combination of your own reflection on the preliminary exercise and the feedback you were given, write  three  WWW bullet points and  three  EBI bullet points for your work. WWW -music fits/sets the theme (London urban crime drama) -actors fit the young characters  -setting fits the genre  EBI -dialogue hard to hear -narrative a bit unclear -conversation could be extended 3) How e

Preliminary exercise: TV drama scene

  1)   Top boy - clip stef and ZT get back on mails  the mise en scene of the nice cars (from the money they made through drugs) the empty petrol station suggesting that it is late at night so no pedestrians will see to help them.  the costuming of the tracksuits and the bally (face masks) being used as it is an typical UK road man/gangster costuming which builds the British culture feeling  the props of guns being used and pulled out builds up tension as the audience as on edge waiting to see if someone will get injured the mid shots during the fit to show multiple people fighting then the close up when they are speaking to show the facial expression clearly build up more intensity  furthermore the tense non dietetic sound builds up more intensity   2) power - ghost gets Tommy out of jail the mise en scene of the court law room and the costuming of the jumpsuit that Tommy is wearing, the judges outfit and the lawyers wearing the professional clothing  the evidence being pulled out on
